SAAG: Calls for Expressions of Interest
Expressions of Interest:
Expressions of interest for the spring 2026 curated group exhibition are now open. The exhibition is about the displacement of Secwépemc people in the Sxwetsméllp area (colonially known as the Shuswap region). More details about the topic are in the application form. Submissions will be accepted until September 21, 2025 and will be reviewed by a selection committee. We will communicate with all those who submitted applications.
Community Participation:
There are always opportunities for folks to participate in the Exhibition Program at the Art Gallery. Here are the current projects you can contribute to:
Shine A Light - Crochet Critters: Shine a Light is a collaborative exhibition with community groups highlighting mental health as part of their mandates, opening September 6, 2025. If you are a crocheter, consider contributing to the Emotional Support Crocheted Critters project. Patterns are available for Emotional Support Pickles, Worry Worms, and Motivational Mushrooms. We welcome donations of as many of these soft items as possible for visitors to hold and take home from the Shine A Light exhibition.
The Tangled Garden: Artists are invited to participate in the next members’ exhibition in the summer of 2026 that addresses rewilding our yards and public spaces. We are asking artists to work in a square format only, any size, and up to three artworks per artist can be submitted. The materials used in these works must be biodegradable. Potential mediums include natural fabric/fleece/yarn with plant based dyes, watercolour on paper, wooden cradle boards with plant-based paint, charcoal/pencil drawing on paper, clay sculpture without glaze, papier mache with wheat paste. No petroleum products for artworks (ie. no acrylic or oil paint). Register at the Art Gallery, or by email to info@salmonarmartscentre.ca. This is a great time to become a member so you don’t miss out!
