2016/2017 Board of Directors of Shuswap District Arts Council
Co-Chairs: Delores Mori, Jaci Metivier
Treasurer: Wendy Charlebois
Directors: Lois Higgins, Chris Schon, Marcus Smith, Chris Schielke
As of March 31, 2012, the Shuswap Art Gallery Association retired its registration as a society. The gallery operations became a program of Shuswap District Arts Council. The blending of these two organizations helps create a streamline society that can focus more on the programming needs of the entire community.
Director/Curator Tracey Kutschker
Tracey graduated from University of Lethbridge in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts. In 2002, Tracey began working for Shuswap District Arts Council as Administrator, became Executive Director in 2005, and in 2011 was re-appointed Director/Curator. She is an advocate of arts-based community development, and has spearheaded several new projects for the gallery, including Family Saturdays, Paint the Town and the Art Camps for Kids.
Gallery Assistant Diana Pratt-Johnson
Diana is an Emily Carr graduate, and has been a volunteer with the gallery since its opening in 1994. She was one of two artists who held the very first exhibition at SAGA, “The Visitors.” She became Gallery Assistant in 2009, managing the front desk, volunteers, card sales and memberships, in addition to being of great assistance to the Director/Curator.
Preparator Eric Kutschker
Eric is a local metal sculptor with a Fine Arts degree from University of Lethbridge. Eric joined the staff of the gallery in 2003 after several years on the volunteer installation committee. In addition to installing and striking all of the exhibitions, he is the technician in charge of maintaining lighting, floors and walls in the gallery.
Bookkeeper Violet Pilkey
Violet graduated from Okanagan College School of Business in 2011 with her Administrative Assistant Certificate. As top of her class, she was one of only three regional graduates who received the President’s Award. Violet joined the Arts Centre in January 2012. She manages the day-to-day financial needs of the Arts Centre and assists with administrative duties, grant applications, and long-term planning.
Education Coordinator Nikki Webber
Nikki graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in animation. She worked in the film industry in Vancouver before returning to the Shuswap in 2004. Currently working in fibre, Nikki is well known for her Nym puppet project that (with collaborator Melissa Nasby) received an honourable mention from Jim Henson Studios in New York. Nikki joined the gallery in 2015 to focus on offering fun, creative and engaging educational opportunities for kids and adults.
