When I was growing up in Kitimat, BC, my mom gave me an art kit for Christmas when I was 15 years old. That set my interest in art in motion and I spent hours painting with acrylics or drawing. My plan to attend art school in San Francisco was short lived due to family issues and, when I left San Francisco, I put my interest in art on the back burner—way on the back burner—for many years. Yet any time I would see a watercolour painting, I would be fascinated by it and think I would like to give it a try. In the fall of 2007 I finally decided to do something about that and took a community-run leisure class in watercolour painting. That was it: my long-suppressed interest in art was rekindled and I was hooked again. I am still trying to find my way in watercolour and would like to pursue drawing again as well as learn to paint in other media.
After San Francisco, I went to Calgary, Alberta, where I was to live for 26 years. However, my heart led me back to the forests of British Columbia where I have decided to make Salmon Arm my home. Shortly after my move, I was directed to the Sunnybrae Painting Group and then the Mt. Ida Painters Guild where I am able to explore and develop my artistic interests.
